GRAND CHAMPION 4-H MARKET HOG
McKenna Brinning – Keota, IA
Parents: Shane and Kathleen Brinning
Biography:
McKenna Brinning is a first time
exhibitor at the Iowa State Fair and
earned her way into the Sale of
Champions with her home raised 266
lb. barrow named “Frosty”. At St.
James Elementary school McKenna
keeps busy with dance, band, music
choir, basketball and volleyball. As
a member of the Prairie Pride 4-H
Club in Washington County, her
projects include market hogs, market
beef, food and nutrition,
photography and home improvement.
Brinning also enjoys working for her
parents and spending time with her
animals. McKenna hopes to attend
Iowa State University in the future. |

RESERVE CHAMPION 4-H MARKET HOG
Calli Beeler – Truro, IA
Parents: Dennis and Roxanne Beeler
Biography:
As a seven year veteran of the Iowa
State Fair, Calli has earned the
2009 Reserve Champion 4-H Market Hog
title. She has been active in the
Ohio Future Feeders 4-H club in
Madison County serving as club
president, 2008 Madison County Fair
Queen, 2008 Madison County Pork
Queen. Calli enjoys showing pigs and
cattle at the county and state fair
level and at AK-SAR-BEN. She has
been exhibiting pigs since she was
in kindergarten and showed her first
carcass pig. At Interstate 35 High
School, Calli has participated in
volleyball, softball, golf and was a
wrestling statistician, student
council vice president and National
Honor Society chapter president. She
has also been an employee of the
Iowa State Fair Open Class Swine
Office and exhibited at the Iowa
State Fair for seven years. Calli
will be a freshman this fall at Iowa
State University. |

GRAND CHAMPION FFA MARKET HOG
Logan Ferguson – New Sharon, IA
Parents: Brett and Carrie Ferguson
Biography:
Logan is a member of the North
Mahaska FFA in Mahaska County where
he has been involved in showing
hogs, beef cattle and tractor
restoration. He has been exhibiting
at the Iowa State Fair for nine
years. His crossbred market gilt
weighed in at 244 lbs. and was also
named the Champion Light Weight in
the FFA Division. Logan is attending
Iowa State University and will be a
junior this fall in Ag Studies and
Ag Systems Technology. Ferguson has
a part-time job at Cargill in New
Sharon and also helps on the family
farm. Other interests of Logan’s
include hunting, fishing, and truck
and tractor restoration. |

RESERVE CHAMPION FFA MARKET HOG
Adair Boysen – Columbus Junction, IA
Parents: Aaron and Bambi Boysen
Biography:
Adair is a member of the Wapello FFA
Chapter and has been showing 4-H
beef cattle and FFA swine at the
Iowa StateFair for several years.
Boysen’s Reserve Champion FFA Market
Hog was also the Medium Weight
Champion Gilt. “Jigsaw” is a York/Hamp
cross and weighed in at 254 lbs.
Adair will be a sophomore at Iowa
State University this fall where she
is studying Agriculture
Communications and Animal Science.
She is active in the Block and
Bridle Club, is an Ag Ambassador, a
Peer Mentor and a member of Sigma
Alpha. She volunteers at the Luisa
County Fair and is a
member of the First Presbyterian
Church in Wapello. Her part-time
jobs have included salesperson for
Kent Feeds for Native Performance
Dog Food and summer intern for the
Farmers Elevator and Exchange |
