Nolan Ferguson – New Sharon, IA

Biography:
Nolan Ferguson returns to the
winner’s circle for the second time
with his Grand Champion 4-H Market
Steer. Nolan has been enrolled in
the market beef project for eight
years as a member of the Adams
Champs 4-H Club in Mahaska County.
Football is Nolan’s favorite sport,
and he also finds time to work for
Rodgers Cattle Co. fitting and
showing cattle. Ferguson plans to
attend Hawkeye Community College in
Waterloo this fall to major in ag
studies. |

RESERVE CHAMPION 4-H MARKET STEER
Josh Becker – Charles City, IA
Parents: Darwin and Becky Becker
Biography:
Josh Becker earned the Reserve
Champion 4-H Market Steer award with
his 1,320 lb. Shorthorn Plus steer.
Josh has been exhibiting at the Iowa
State Fair for seven years. Becker
belongs to the West St. Charles
Feeders in Floyd County and is
enrolled in the market and breeding
beef projects. Josh was a four-year
varsity starter on the Charles City
High baseball team, was academic
all-state baseball, second team
all-state baseball, two-year varsity
football, and a member of the
National Honor Society. Josh will be
attending Wartburg College in the
fall to play baseball and major in
business. |

Ross Wasson – Colfax, IA
Parents: Dan and Annie Wasson
Biography:
Ross Wasson has been enrolled in the
4-H market beef project for eight
years and has also been exhibiting
at the Iowa State Fair for eight
years. He has exhibited his market
beef projects at the Jasper County
Fair, Iowa State Fair,
Ak-Sar-Ben, Louisville, Denver, and
American Royal. Ross has also been
an active member on the Jasper
County Judging Team. Football,
track, Spanish Club, National Honor
Society, class vice-president, and
student council keep
Ross busy at Colfax – Mingo High
School. Ross also finds time for
many community activities including:
Adopt-A-Highway, Meals on Wheels,
and Make a Difference Day. Ross will
be attending Iowa State University
where he is enrolled in Ag Studies
this fall. |

Reserve Champion 4-H Market Heifer*
Mandy Kohlhaas, LuVerne, IA
Parents: Allan and Shelly Kohlhaas
Biography:
Mandy Kohlhaas’s 1,295 lb. entry
earned her the honors of Reserve
Champion 4-H Market Heifer at this
year’s IowaState Fair. This is
Mandy’s second time in the winner’s
circle. She exhibited the Champion
4-H Market Heifer in 2007. Mandy is
active in the Riverdale Rustlers 4-H
Club in Kossuth County. She will be
a senior at Bishop Garrigan High
School this fall. She will be busy
participating in basketball,
volleyball, softball and golf.
Kohlhaas was a member of The 2007
Champion State Golf Team and was
fifth place individual golfer. Mandy
is kept busy at the family grain
farm and cow/calf operation. She
enjoys golfing and hanging out with
friends in her spare time. |
