Champion FFA Market Lamb
Cody Schminke, Van Horne, IA
Parents: Al and Kandy Schminke
Biography:
Cody Schminke’s success in the show
ring continues as he exhibited the
Grand Champion FFA Market Lamb at
the 2008 Iowa State Fair where he
has been showing for ten years. Cody
was part of the 2007 Sale of
Champions with his Reserve Champion
FFA Market Hog at the Iowa State
Fair. Schminke is a member of the
Benton Community FFA Chapter where
his projects include sheep and
market hogs. He has been very active
in Livestock Judging and assists
with the youth judging contest in
his county. Cody has completed two
years at Black Hawk East campus in
Kewanee, IL and will be transferring
to Iowa State University this fall
where he will continue his studies
in Ag Systems Technology. While
attending Black Hawk College
Schminke was herdsman for Lee
Denzer. |

Ashley Graff, Osceola, IA
Parents: Myron and Margaret Graff
Biography:
Ashley Graff captured her sixth spot
in the winner’s circle this year
with the Reserve Champion FFA Market
Lamb. Ashley has been exhibiting
sheep at the Iowa State Fair for
twelve years. She is a member of the
Osceola Big Chief FFA Chapter and
earned her American FFA Degree in
2006. Graff is a Business Management
major witha minor in Marketing at
Iowa State University where she will
be a senior this fall. While at Iowa
State, Ashley has been active in the
Block and Bridle Club. This past
summer she worked for the Iowa 4-H
Foundation. |

Chelsea Schminke, Van Horne, IA
Parents: Al and Kandy Schminke
Biography:
Chelsea Schminke’s home raised lamb
earned her the title of 2008 Grand
Champion 4-H Market Lamb. She has
been exhibiting sheep for seven
years and is also a seven year
veteran of the Iowa State Fair. As a
member of the LeRoy Luckies 4-H Club
Chelsea also shows pigs and enjoys
helping other 4-Hers with their
projects. Chelsea will be a junior
at Benton Community School this fall
where she will be involved in FFA,
dance team, volleyball, and serve as
wrestling manager. Some of her
community activities include keeping
the ditches clean under the “Adopt A
Highway” program, making blankets
for the ambulances, and cleaning the
memorial at Norway. Chelsea is also
a member of the Trinity Lutheran
Church. |

Brenden Kuesel, Victor, IA
Parents: Michael and Cherrie Kuesel
Biography:
The Reserve Champion 4-H Market Lamb
was exhibited by Brenden Kuesel from
Poweshiek County. Brenden has been
exhibiting sheep for seven years as
a member of the Warren Winners 4-H
Club. Brenden is a repeat winner as
he exhibited the Grand Champion 4-H
Market Lamb at the 2007 Iowa State
Fair. Kuesel will be a junior at H.
L. V. Community School this year
where he participates in football,
basketball and golf. He is also a
member of the Future Stars
basketball team and played on the
Class 1A basketball team that earned
third place at the State Tournament
with a record of 26-2. |
