Anna Freese, Atkins, IA
Parents: Deanna Freese-Miller &
Kevin Miller
Biography:
Anna Freese of Atkins exhibited the
Grand Champion FFA Market Hog at the
2008 Iowa State Fair. Freese is a
member of the Benton Community FFA
Chapter at Van Horne and is a nine
year veteran of the Iowa State Fair.
She has been exhibiting swine
projects for ten years. She also
exhibited photography. Anna served
as the 2007 Benton County Fair
Queen. As a member of her FFA
Chapter she has helped coordinate
the Benton FFA Spring Livestock
Show. Anna attends Coe College in
Cedar Rapids where she is a
sophomore in the Nursing Program and
a member of the Student
Nursing Association. Community
activities for Anna include helping
at the Homeless Shelter in Cedar
Rapids and
volunteering at St. Lukes Hospital.
She works as a C.N.A. at the
Keystone Care Center. She is also a
member of the Trinity Lutheran
Church. In her spare time Anna likes
running, water sports and spending
time with family and friends. |

FFA Market Hog
Troy Smit, Hull, IA
Parents: Dennis and Marsha Smit
Biography:
The 2008 Reserve Champion FFA Market
Hog was exhibited by Troy Smit of
Hull. Smit is a member of the Jason
Van Holland FFA Chapter at Boyden-Hull
in Sioux County. In his ten years of
exhibiting swine, Troy has captured
the Champion Showmanship eight times
at the Sioux County Fair. He has
also exhibited the Grand Champion
Market Hog at the Sioux County Fair,
Clay County Fair and at Jackson, MN.
Smit is a sophomore at Iowa State
University majoring in
agriculture. In the fall he can be
seen cheering on the Iowa State
Cyclone Football team. Troy also
enjoys boating and jet skiing at
Lake Okoboji. He works part-time for
P & K Construction in Hull. |

Rebecca Freeman, Ogden, IA
Parents: John and Teri Freeman
Biography:
Rebecca Freeman had the honor of
exhibiting two champions at the 2008
Iowa State Fair. She earned Grand
Champion 4-H Market Hog with her 258
lb. medium weight division winner.
Rebecca has been exhibiting at the
Iowa State Fair for seven years. She
is a member of the Bluff Creek
Wranglers 4-H Club in Boone County.
As a junior at Southeast
Webster-Grand she will be busy with
basketball, volleyball, golf and
swimming. |

Reserve Champion 4-H Market Hog
Bay Boysen, Columbus Junction, IA
Parents: Aaron and Bambi Boysen
Biography:
Bay Boysen earned Reserve Grand
Champion 4-H Market Hog with her 250
lb. market gilt which was also named
the Grand Champion 4-H Market Gilt
at the 2008 Iowa State Fair. This is
Bay’s fourth year of exhibiting at
the Iowa State Fair. She will be
entering ninth grade this fall at
Wapello Community High School where
she will keep active with
volleyball, track and pom squad. Bay
spent a lot of time this summer
helping her community survive the
floods of 2008 as a volunteer sand
bagger in Louisa County. She is also
a member of the Wapello Presbyterian
Church and enjoys dance in her spare
time. |
