Biography:
Micheala Jorgensen of Guthrie Center
exhibited the Grand Champion 4-H
Market Steer, a 1,305-lb steer that
gained 2.80 lbs per day. Michaela’s
steer topped the middleweight
division of crossbreds and then the
overall prize. Michaela is
17-years-old and the daughter of
Monte and Melinda Jorgensen. She’ll
be a senior this fall at Guthrie
Center High School. She’s been
showing beef for seven years, and
she was crowned Guthrie County Beef
Queen. |

Reserve Champion
4-H Market Steer -
$15,000
Joe Manning,
Granger
Biography:
A 1,295-lb crossbred steer shown by
Joe Manning of Granger captured the
Reserve Grand Champion Market Steer
title. The 19-year-old’s calf had an
average daily gain of 2.56 lbs. Joe
graduated from Waukee High School
this spring where he was active in
basketball, football and the Reach
program. He’s a member of the Dallas
County Sugar Grove Blue Ribbon
Winners 4-H club, and he’s active in
his community as a member of the
Assumption youth group and Habitat
for Humanity. He’ll attend North
Iowa Area Community College in Mason
City this fall to major in ag
business. |

4-H Market Heifer - $14,000
Seth Elder, Dunlap
Biography:
The Grand Champion 4-H Market Heifer
is exhibited by Seth Elder of
Dunlap. The 1,265-lb heifer had an
average daily gain of 2.51 lbs. Seth
will be a junior this fall at Boyer
Valley High School in Dunlap where
he competes in football and track.
He’s a member of the Boyer Rooter
4-H Club. In his spare time, Seth
works at Sullivan Farms and even
helps clean the highways.

4-H Market Heifer - $14,000
Dana Hornung, Hubbard
Biography:
A 1,295-lb heifer exhibited by Dana
Hornung of Hubbard took home Reserve
Grand Champion 4-H Market Heifer
honors. Dana has had quite a year ¾
she also took home top honors at her
county fair. She’ll be in seventh
grade this fall at Hubbard Radcliffe
Junior High where she plays
basketball and volleyball. She’s a
member of the Concord Sherman
Challengers 4-H club and focuses on
cattle projects.
